Asset management: common questions

What does an asset management graduate earn in the UK?
Starting pay varies by firm, role and location. onDesk does not guarantee any job or salary.
Is asset management less competitive than investment banking?
Every front-office route is competitive, but asset management deadlines are usually later and the application volume is lower. Competition still runs high at the top funds.
What is the difference between asset management and investment banking?
Asset managers invest money for the long term and research companies over years. Investment bankers advise on deals with tight, project-based deadlines. The skills overlap; the rhythm of the day does not.
Do asset managers work long hours?
Usually more sustainable than banking: earlier finishes are common outside results season. The intensity comes in the research deadlines and the reviews of your views.
